Lung Cancer Facts

Lung cancer is the deadliest and most common of all cancers.

Research for lung cancer is 20 years behind other cancers, even though more people will die from lung cancer than all other cancers combined.

Why the lack of attention? Lung cancer tends to have a stigma attached to it – that you deserve it – you must be a smoker. However, there is a growing number of cases including Meaghan’s, whose cancer was not caused by smoking.

It is believed that environmental factors such as radon, asbestos and pollution are contributing factors.

This race is trying to raise awareness that LUNG CANCER IS NOT JUST FOR SMOKERS ANYMORE.

Lung cancer patients rarely show symptoms until the disease has spread and pain surfaces elsewhere, in other organs or the bones. Funding for earlier diagnostic tools can save countless lives and allow for much earlier intervention and longer life expectancies.
